Free speach is great.
Free speach that includes lies, ignorent slander & manipulative propaganda is BAD. I've simply found that MM does this just as much, if not more than the people/institutions he complains about.
I honestly don't see him helping ANYTHING.

I have trouble siding with a guy who says this:
"It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag."
Tasteless comments that show he's just as removed from reality as the yokels he makes movies about.

MM is an ass. he revels in american tragedy, wallowing in his money like swine in filth. and rotgut, by saying the nation is built around the bill of rights, you are saying that the bill of rights is more important than the rest of the constitution. following yours and MM's line of reasoning, lets just scrap the unimportant crap in that old piece of paper we refer to as the constitution.
comon man, honestly. think. at least TRY to prove youve got more inteligence than MM

To the contrary, by your logic then, the entire journalism industry is an oppertunistic vulture, since they profit in one way by reporting such news. Also, If you had millions Im sure you'd be in line for a charity give away I am sure.
Also, he is not exploiting anyone. Exploiting them would be him taking part in said tradgedy, then using that influence to further his own pocket book. I do agree he isn't visionary or an artist. Also, you inherently love capitalism by loving this country, so therefore why are you opposed to his attempts to profit?

If you feel that is true, please cite where exactly my thought and Micheal Moores are the same?
Also, I don't recall anything in the constitution about free speech being wrong.
It seems most the people here that dismiss him as idiotic hob-nobbery don't know what the right hand is doing in correlation to the left.
Also, if you were somehow right in the end, I think if you had common sense you'd value the bill of rights over the constitution.

I really don't see whats so tasteless in critisizing the ineptitude of FEMA.

While that could be concieved as a tasteless comment, Micheal Moore is harmless. Michael Brown, who was in charge of FEMA during this tragedy joked openly in his emails about his attire. For the people who didnt understand, Micheal Brown was appointed by Bush to head FEMA. He had way more power in the US Government than Michael Moore has ever had or ever will.
The Stupidity of George W. Bush is outstanding. On the tail end of this Michael Brown fiasco which was called cronyism by some as Brown had no disaster experience dubya submits Harriet Myers name for Supreme Court Judge. Harriet Myers is blatent cronyism by the President. I am glad she took it to herself to step down.
I am glad i didnt vote for GWB.
BTW did this flash have sources or was it random quotes for the sheep to gobble up?

Once again the news is a totally different subject than a person who makes millions from the real suffering. Never having experienced it himself i doubt he knows how it feels. I myself, I was six years in afsoc. Ive seen real suffering first hand. Ive seen mothers crying over their dead children you bastard. I have seen families crying because thoughtless dictators seen fit to have their loved ones exterminated. Have you ever RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing seen that. No you havnt. You base your experiences on the facts that others print. This moron moore does the same. I hope to RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing god and sunny jesus he ends up in the hands of the massaad because that is where a thoughtless exploiter deserves.

While if true, it is most unfortunate you had to experience such things, it begs the question, how do you feel about outsourcing, sweatshops, globalization, and corporate control?

Actually, if you ask me, Moore is one of the more intelligent people in the US. I mean, how many other people can rail against an entire country AND MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE SAME PLACE???!!!
And he really does it with minimal effort. I mean, he takes a camera and a camera guy, goes and talks to people, and makes up opinions. And get gets a ****load of money for it!
I mean, honestly, why would the guy go to Canada? He's got enough going for him here, anyways.
In seriousness, though, there is one thing I agree with Moore on. And that's White people. They scare the crap out of me, too. Especially fat white people with loud mouths. They scare me lots, and I mean that on both sides of the political spectrum. It's like I'm getting a subliminal message: "Agree with me, or I'll eat you!" And then there's their society-driven insecurity that drives them to crave power. Insecure, obsessive, greedy people with power are very scary. I say we just grab a random hobo and make him president. He might be a little insecure (depending on the person), and he might even be a little crazy, but hey, he can't be any worse than someone who actually WANTS the position, right?

Why be afriad? Whites are the minority nowadays, which is ironic, it seems most blacks are more racist towards whites than vice versa. I realize Ill be pegged racist for stating my experiences, but what the hey, I know Im not, since I don't believe in seperate race. We are the human race. Skin tone does not make biology, biology makes skin tone. Think of it as dogs, they all look different but are able to reproduce, they're the same species.

Not really. Journalism, if done correctly, is done to inform people. What he is saying is that MM does it to make money. It's about intent.
Actually the wealthy in the US still give a higher % of their income than any other class in the US. I guess he's pointing out an instance where MM went getting peoples attention to the suffering of his hometown and did nothing on his own to help it. (one could say he made the film, but all the profit went to him apparently)

Exploiting is simply using one persons tragedy for the purpose of bettering yourself.

That is incorrect. It will be true in several years at the current rate, but It is currently wrong.

Actually, the interesting thing about all the FEMA critique is the fact that FEMA's job was NEVER to be the main force supplying relief. the group constitutionally mandated to do that is the RED CROSS! FEMA is an organizational group that also has the means to do similar activities. But the burden was never mainly on them. But it's easy to complain about them like everything else in government, and besides where would MM be without that kind of ignorance!

You know their huge relief fund spends time in short-term investment before full distribution...wonder where that accrued interest goes?

Well, then by using your logic everyone is guilty of that and he really isn't that exceptional in that area after all, rendering it moot.

Filmmaker Michael Moore has made a career out of trashing corporations and said he doesn't own any stocks due to moral principle.
Recently IRS documents showing that Moore's very own foundation has bought stocks in some of America's largest corporations - including Halliburton, other defense contractors and some of the same companies he has attacked.
He once said that major defense contractor Halliburton was run by a bunch of "thugs," and suggested that for every American killed in the Iraq war, "I would like Halliburton to slay one mid-level executive."
Publicly, Moore has claimed he wants no part of these companies and won't own stock.
In his book "Stupid White Men," he wrote: "I don't own a single share of stock."
He repeated the claim in a 1997 letter to the online magazine Salon, saying: "I don't own any stock."
Privately, however, he tells the IRS a different story....
He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton, the company most vilified by Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
The year that Moore claimed in "Stupid White Men" that he didn't own any stock, he told the IRS that a foundation totally controlled by Moore and his wife had more than $280,000 in corporate stock and nearly $100,000 in corporate bonds.
Over the past five years, Moore's holdings have included such "evil" pharmaceutical and medical companies as Pfizer, Merck, Genzyme, Elan PLC, Eli Lilly, Becton Dickinson and Boston Scientific.
Moore's supposedly nonexistent portfolio also includes big bad energy giants like Sunoco, Noble Energy, Schlumberger, Williams Companies, Transocean Sedco Forex and Anadarko, all firms that 'deplete irreplaceable fossil fuels in the name of profit' as he put it in 'Dude, Where's My Country?'
And in perhaps the ultimate irony, he also has owned shares in Halliburton. According to IRS filings, Moore sold Halliburton for a 15 percent profit and bought shares in Noble, Ford, General Electric (another defense contractor), AOL Time Warner (evil corporate media) and McDonald's.
Also on Moore's investment menu: defense contractors Honeywell, Boeing and Loral.
If that's not enough, Moore does his film production in Canada to avoid paying union scale and threatened to fire half of his TV show's writing staff when they wanted to join a union.

Moore reminds me of that kid in high school that was so damn annoying you wanted the class to rise as one and slay him. The kind of person I'm talking about was always claiming they were the best and ALWAYS inturupting conversations to put their opinioned word in. They claimed any form of political action as evil, calling every single person with a higher position than them was a g-man thung, and pretended they were the best and brightest, making sure to try to get in good grounds with the minorities. Know who else did that? Charles Manson.
OH! And the kid always smelt like piss.
